Fabrication of Bite Guard

A Bite Guard is a highly customized appliance fabricated on either the upper teeth, or the lower. It acts as hard, flat, protective layer of clear material that allows for the equal distribution of biting force to be applied around the whole mouth evenly while simultaneously allowing for muscular “release” during the act of nocturnal grinding. This allows for the facial muscles to naturally relax as patients can not bite / grind as hard. The biting surface of the teeth are also directly protected from the wear that will eventually occur due to persistent nocturnal bruxism.
